PRO-LIFERS BRAVE THE COLD AND RAIN TO STAND FOR LIFE

Despite the cold and rain this weekend, Pro-lifers in 8 different cities in South Africa took to the streets to pray and take a stand for the Right to Life of pre-born babies as part of International Life Chain Sunday .

We believe and trust that God will answer the prayers of His people and that He used the Life Chains to change the minds and hearts of passers by as well as those who received the Pro-life literature distributed.

The Life Chain is an international prayer vigil and peaceful placard protest against the abortion holocaust.

Up to a million Christians in approximately 900 locations worldwide took part in the various Life Chains this 7 October.

65 Christians in Cape Town stood in the rain with placards stating “Abortion Kills Babies”. The Life Chain took place on the centre island ofBuitengracht Street (near the entrance to the Water Front). Baby items, were collected for the Moreson Children’s Home.

In Johannesburg , about 20 people gathered in the rain, to pray outside the Marie Stopes abortuary in Randburg.

In Mossel Bay, 9 people braved the rain to cry out to God for mercy on South Africa for innocent blood shed.

In Durban, about 500 people attended the Life Chain on Sunday, in Umgeni Road , in front of the Makro Complex.

In Chatsworth, a display and literature stand was set-up at the Chatsworth Mall. 100 DVDs with the “truth about abortion” were handed out to interested shoppers. Some of the pictures on display caused quite a stir amongst Hindu, Muslim and Christian shoppers.

In Phoenix, 2 000 Pro-life leaflets were distributed at busy intersections. We praise God for women who have had abortions who came forward to confess their sin and receive counseling.

In Kareedouw, pro-life literature and 12 week baby plastic models were distributed in town as well as at a ladies’ camp.

In Brits, the grade 11 learners and teachers of Rabboni Christian School made a bold stand outside the local Pick n Pay.

The Bloemfontein Life Chain will take place this Sunday, 14 October. 2:00 – 4:00pm . Kolbe Drive in front of the Eastern side of National District Hospital . Contact Faan Oosthuizen:

The Life Chains recognise the abortion holocaust as one of the greatest recurring crimes being committed in the world today. The slaughter of over 650 000 pre-born babies is nothing less than a holocaust. When a nation devalues its most helpless and innocent citizens and allows them to be slaughtered in their thousands, it is no wonder that all other life is treated as worthless. Any government that legislates abortion shows that it is intrinsically evil . It is an urgent priority for the Church to expose, oppose and end this war against children made in the image of God.

No baby is unwanted. He or she is firstly wanted by God, and secondly there are many couples who are desperate to adopt. Government red tape, however, is currently preventing many adoptions.

According to official Department of Health statistics, over 594 571 babies have been legally killed through abortion in South Africa , since 1 February 1997 . Many of the figures for both 2005 and 2006, however, are incomplete, so a conservative estimate for September 2007 would be well over 650 000. There are also many legal abortions every year that go unrecorded, as well as many hundreds of illegal abortions taking place.

Since 1987 Life Chains have been held in the USA , and since 1992, Africa Christian Action has organised Life Chains in South Africa . This was the 15 th Life Chain held in Cape Town .
