John Smyth QC of the Justice Alliance of South Africa has agreed to assist the Western Cape Department of Health in their current court case against Marie Stopes. JASA has long been concerned about the attempts by Marie Stopes to flout the requirements of the Abortion Amendment Act in respect of their facilities for emergencies in their clinics. This incident is also important becuase the woman clearly remembers not being given any counselling prior to the abortion. This case could act as a test case of whether the onus of "mandatory counselling" should rest on the woman seeking an abortion or on the medical practitioner.  Go to the JASA website for the affidavit of the woman in question.

JASA needs more examples of patient abuse and lack of thorough counselling at Marie Stopes Clinics to back up their case. (One patient - the pre-born baby- is always abused, in fact murdered, in each incident, but these cases will help to expose the callousness and cruelty of abortionists).
