Preparing For University
Sanctity Life Sunday 30 January 2005
One of the most urgent and important issues confronting the Church today is the right to life of pre-born babies.
The 1st of February will mark the 8th Commemoration of the legalisation of abortion on demand in South Africa. Since 1 February 1997 approximately 400 000 babies will have been killed in South Africa - by abortion - legally. On 30 January all churches are encouraged to observe a solemn and serious time of repentance and prayer for the national sin of abortion.
A growing number of Christians worldwide are beginning to recognise the abortion holocaust as the greatest crime being committed in the world today. The most dangerous place in the world is not Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan or Zimbabwe.
The most dangerous place in the world is the womb. Pre-born babies are being killed in their mother's wombs at a greater rate than any other section of society. The mortality rate of pre-born babies varies from 1 in 4 to 1 in 3.
It is an urgent priority for the Church to expose, oppose and end this war against children made in the image of God.
According to the South African Christian Handbook there are over 16 million churchgoers in South Africa. If most of these churchgoers could understand what the Bible teaches about when life begins, the sanctity of life and our Christian responsibility to stand up for the right to life of the pre-born - then we could save thousands of babies from abortion.
Most of the medical personnel in our country are church members. Most of the mothers go to church. Most of the voters in South Africa claim to be Christians. If Christians in South Africa could stop and look at the abortion holocaust in the light of Scripture; if we could understand something of the heart of God on this disgraceful abomination - then we would be roused to action.
There are over 36 000 churches in South Africa. There are over 30 000 ministers in the country. If just half of them could be inspired to study what the Word of God says on when life begins and what is abortion; if only half the churches in South Africa observed Sanctity Life Sunday in Bible study, repentance and prayer - then we could begin to end the legalised killing of babies in South Africa.
“Could you men not keep watch with Me for one hour?” Matthew 26:40
To assist pastors in informing and inspiring their congregations to prayer and action, Africa Christian Action is offering a Sanctity Life package: This includes a worship manual for Sanctity Life Sunday, Pro-life sermons, prayers of repentance, Scripture study on the Sanctity of Life and Fight For Life - a Pro-life Handbook for Southern Africa, and a Resource List of available pro-life videos, audio tapes, books, stickers, and precious feet lapel pins.
“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…" Proverbs 31:8
Will you mobilise your congregation to observe Sanctity Life Sunday?
Preparing For University
Statistically, 75% of young people with a Christian background who enrol at university stop going to church. For any army to lose 3/4 of its forces is catastrophic.
From 6 - 14 January 2005 the Summit Youth Leadership and Worldview Training Course will be practically preparing students to deal with the issues, temptations and pressures of university. The Summit equips students with the facts and the skills they need to deal with humanism and evolutionism. The Summit applies the Lordship of Christ to all areas of life.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may approve what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2
The Summit is a crash-course to enable students to understand and articulate the Christian worldview, to enable them to answer the toughest questions and to equip them with the skills and the confidence they need to respond to every challenge to their Christian faith.
Christianity is not for the weak minded. It is not enough to simply believe. You have to know what you believe and why you believe. And you need to be able to defend it. The Summit will enable you to understand and respond in a Biblical way to everything from Relativism to Dualism, from Hollywood to Humanism, from Marxism to Islam. The Summit can change your life.
Participants of previous Summits have written these responses:
“An amazing experience which strengthened my faith…”; “It has renewed my enthusiasm for Jesus…”; “Very different to any other kind of Christian camp”; “A great time of spiritual revival”; “The Summit gave me solid foundations for defending and living my faith”; “The best experience in my life so far…”; “Well organised, stimulating, fun, wonderful!”
At the Summit you will encounter real Christians seeking to live with integrity and deal honestly and intelligently with life's challenges. At the Summit you will have the opportunity for lots of mind bending, life altering, learning and soul searching. There will also be lots of fun, fellowship, hiking, volleyball and water sports and there will be the opportunity to put feet to your faith with outreaches within the area.
The Summit not only leads to new lifelong friendships, but greatly strengthens the family. Many parents have commented positively on the changes they have seen in their children. As one father said: “I sent you a boy, and you sent me back a young man!”
The Summit is held in a beautiful conference centre situated on the slopes of a mountain, amidst a forest and overlooking the sea. Accommodation is in comfortable chalets. All the meals are professionally catered. Most lectures are accompanied by PowerPoint and manuals and textbooks are provided as part of the course.
The Summit is great value for time and money. Some have commented that it was the best investment they have ever made. Those attending the Summit will find that it is packed full with cutting edge research, films, presentations and valuable information. It actually makes it enjoyable for students to serve the Lord and to stand up and speak up for the Christian worldview.

“See to it that no-one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.” Colossians 2:8
