CHRISTIAN ACTION NETWORK
CONFERENCES IN ZAMBIA
Over 240 pastors, deacons, evangelists, teachers and political leaders participated in the Christian Action Network Fire of God Conference in Lusaka, Zambia. The Director of the Christian Action Network, Dr. Peter Hammond, presented messages, with PowerPoint accompaniment, on Revival, Reformation and Missions.
In response to Peter's first message of: Whatever Happened to the Prayer Meeting?, the host pastor, Bishop Peter Ndhlovu, challenged the members of his congregation to join him in an all-night Prayer Meeting the very next Friday. Over 200 people responded to the challenge to gather for the all-night prayer vigil.
There was tremendous enthusiasm for the messages presented, and the team distributed hundreds of copies of The Power of Prayer Handbook and the new, revised and expanded edition of Biblical Principles for Africa to delegates.
During the open discussion time, Zambian pastors who had completed The Great Commission Course in Cape Town, testified how their ministries had been transformed and empowered. One pastor spoke of how he had managed to unite many of the pastors in their rural area in evangelism in the market place, using The Way of the Master and Evangelism Explosion methods. God's Law is the schoolmaster that leads us to Christ, he concluded. Many souls had been saved and lives transformed by these outreaches.
Large quantities of Christian Action Magazines, World Missionary Press Gospel booklets, Chapel Library booklets, Evangelistic tracts and other vital evangelistic and discipleship materials was distributed to CAN delegates.
The Bishop also arranged for a TV crew to come and interview Peter concerning Biblical economics and the challenge for Reformation in Zambia. This was broadcast that Sunday evening, and again re-broadcast Monday morning, nationwide.
Following the CAN conference, Dr. Hammond was received by the Minister of Home Affairs, General Ronnie Shikapwasha, MP and by the Minister of Information, Mr Mulongoti, MP. Peter was able to deliver to these cabinet ministers, copies of the new Biblical Principles for Africa. These were received with great enthusiasm and they were able to discuss many practical implications of Biblical principles for economics, education, crime and punishment and other national issues.
Over 440 participants from 86 churches and ministries participated in the Reformation and Revival Seminar in Lusaka. There was tremendous enthusiasm for The Franschhoek Declaration, the Biblical Principles for Africa books and for the Christian Action magazines.
Peter and his team delivered and distributed almost a ton of Gospel and discipleship literature to 5 Bible colleges, 4 churches, 3 mission bases, 2 Christian schools and to numerous chaplains. During this three-week, 9,000 kilometre overland mission trip, the team conducted more than 50 public meetings.
