CREATION
SCIENCE: Entropy: In bondage to decay
In layman's
terms, entropy is a measure of the amount of disorder in a system. From
observable scientific experimentation, the second law of thermodynamics
states that entropy in a closed system will never decrease (i.e. become
more ordered), but will naturally migrate to a state of higher entropy.
This poses a problem for the evolutionist.
Christians
believe that something (God) took nothing and made everything. Atheistic
evolutionists believe that nothing took nothing and made everything. There
are various theories that have been proposed. The rather nebulous 'big
bang theory' amongst them. It is suggested that such processes formed
a universe , in which ancient earth was a kind of pre-biotic soup of chemicals.
The earth would have been subject to cosmic radiation and other influences
and could therefore not be defined as a closed system. The universe, on
the other hand, would have to have been a closed system - unless you believe
in God. As such, the universe would have been subject to the laws of entropy.
Evolution would have therefore been impossible as entropy precludes the
formation of order out of such disorder.
Entropy
is actually described in the Bible in Romans 8:20-22. Creation is described
as being in 'bondage to decay' because of its morally fallen state. Scientists
who work in the fields of molecular biology and genetics are witness to
the increased incidence of new diseases from corrupted (mutated) genes.
We inherit more and more of these defects from previous generations.
Evolutionists
argue that the properties of 'life forms' counter entropy. They are referring
to reproduction, beneficial mutations and survival of the fittest (natural
selection). These are the proposed mechanisms of evolution. However, we
are hard pressed to quantify what life actually is or where it originates
from. It is another enigma.
In all this, the huge assumptions and obstacles are glaringly obvious:
A proven theory for forming something out of nothing, the origin and nature
of 'life', reproduction, beneficial mutations and the existence of the
physical laws themselves (including natural selection). Valiant efforts
have been made to reduce the number of variables , but more questions
seem to arise the deeper you dig. Some of these questions have been mentioned
in previous writings. It is all very well having such an unscientific
theory, if there were undisputed evidences for it. Unfortunately, as discussed
last week, hard evidence in support of the theory is lacking and many
other 'evidences' are subject to biased interpretations. We are not at
liberty to observe history, and it is for this reason that this issue
can never be classed as science.
1.
With all the physical laws (miraculously) in place.
2. For example, a very complex and precisely controlled experiment has
been successfully conducted to make amino acids. The obstacles to this
occurring spontaneously are astronomical. Proteins contain amino acids
and are the building blocks of DNA. One huge assumption here is that the
DNA/information molecule is 'life' itself.
