Book Review:
Scope Mounting and Sighting In
By Andre Lombard

Dick Boothroyd has managed to write a very detailed instruction booklet on the fitting of riflescopes. Although this book is aimed at the novice, gunsmiths will also benefit from Dick’s vast experience in the fitting of scopes.
The book is well illustrated with photographs and diagrams explaining the various steps in the fitting or sighting process.
Subjects dealt with vary from the selection of the riflescope, fitting the various makes of mounts, aligning mounts to bore and range sighting in of the rifles.
A special chapter is dedicated to the long-range shooter and the very special mounts and scope fitting required to satisfy his demands.
Dick deals with fault diagnosis and the correction of these faults. He draws on actual examples from his experience to explain and describe the various problems a person may experience as the result of a badly fitted riflescope.
Sadly though, a chapter on the growing popularity of air rifles and their unique recoil characteristics is missing.
Many hunters look for advice and information on riflescopes. Well, here it is!
Overall it is a very comprehensive booklet and now is the time to spoil the rifleman you know with a great Christmas gift.
The manual is available from Dick Boothroyd at R55 all-inclusive per copy. Orders may be placed by contacting him at
