CHILDREN PRODUCING PORN – WHAT SHOULD PARENTS DO?
Predators
A 16-year-old Virginia (Free State) schoolgirl and a 42-year-old Welkom man are being charged with sexual offences relating to the manufacturing, distribution and possession of child pornography, after they sent naked pictures as well as videos of sex acts to each other by cellphone (“Girl, 16, sends naked pics to man, 42”, www.news24.com, 3 April 2013).

The Christian Action Network is appalled that ICASA has granted TOP TV a licence to broadcast three porn channels on their bouquet. Not only does this decision fly in the face of ICASA’s Constitutional obligations to “regulate broadcasting in the public interest” (Section 192 of SA Constitution), and the paramount Constitutional rights of children to be protected from harm, but it means that that ICASA has totally ignored all expert research given in submissions, including scientific research presented by Doctors for Life on the harm of pornography addiction to the brain.

GAGA CONCERT OUTREACH

On 3 December, as 60,000 people flocked to Cape Town stadium, we mobilised a Gaga Concert Outreach team of 35 people who were there to meet the Gaga fans with a friendly smile and a question. "Did you get one of these?" We distributed over 6,000 Gospel leaflets including: "Going Gaga? Here is what to Expect…" , which used some of Gaga's lyrics to springboard into a Gospel message.

INTERNATIONAL LIFE CHAINS PROCLAIM RIGHT TO LIFE OF THE PRE-BORN

Up to a million Christians in approximately 1 800 locations worldwide took part in the various Life Chains this 7 October, International Life ChainSunday. A National March for Life, organised by the National Alliance for Life, took place in Umhlanga, Durban, with about 500 marching in the pouring rain.
“Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud.” Proverbs 1:20-21

On National Women’s Day, Africa Christian Action set up displays in 4 shopping malls in Cape Town. 77 volunteers helped us distribute 9 500 Gospel tracts and leaflets and 2230 balloons with Scripture and pro-family messages on them. By God’s grace, during the 12 hour Mission to the malls, we were able to counsel over 56 people and explain to them the way of Salvation. Each person who was counselled through Way of the Master and Evangelism Explosion received Way of the Master Todd Friel and Kirk Cameron’s DVD – The Biggest Question. This is the 17 th year in a row that we have organised these outreaches.

“Modern slavery.” It sounds like a paradox. Hasn’t humanity progressed? Didn’t we abandon this barbaric practice centuries ago?
Didn’t Christian reformers like William Wilberforce legislate against such cruelty over 205 years ago? So we had thought. But, with over 27 million enslaved people across the world, human trafficking is back and it is rife today.

Your brain is the powerhouse of your body. We all have one but we use it at different capacities. It is one of the most valuable things we possess. Thankfully we have skulls to protect our brain, but some people have done some pretty dumb things to put themselves at risk of losing this precious gift!

A major book which Dr. Peter Hammond has been busy on for many years is now completed. Victorious Christians – Who Changed the World, will inspire a new generation of dedicated Christians with the incredible examples of excellence provided by some of the most colourful and effective Christians in history.
Fighting for the Family
I had three significant meetings last week in which I had an opportunity to speak up for pro-family Biblical principles.

South Africa Mission
After a long day’s drive up from Cape Town, our Mission began with lectures on The Battle for our Families and our Future at a Bible College in Kimberley. This was followed by further lectures on Missions at another Bible College the next morning. The enthusiasm of these students and their faculty was overwhelming. After two hours of lectures, we spent the next three hours in questions and answers and enthusiastic discussions over a wide range of Missions and related subjects.

INTERNATIONAL LIFE CHAINS PROCLAIM RIGHT TO LIFE OF THE PRE-BORN
Up to a million Christians in approximately 1 500 locations worldwide took part in the various Life Chains this 2 October, International Life ChainSunday. Over 130 Christians formed a Life Chain to proclaim the sanctity of life in Cape Town. Life Chains also took place in 4 other cities in South Africa: Polokwane (Pietersburg), Johannesburg, Durban, and East London. The Life Chain in Bloemfontein is this Saturday (8 October).
Despite initial opposition and resistance, we were permitted to conduct outreaches in four shopping malls in Cape Town. The children were delighted to be handed colourful balloons and many people were plainly grateful for the Gospel literature we were handing out. There was much interest in our Spiritual Well-Being Survey, which took shoppers through The Way of the Master and Evangelism Explosion questions to confront them with the Law of God and the reality of Eternity.

MEMORANDUM: CALL FOR THE REMOVAL OF SEXUALLY EXPLICIT AND WOMEN-OBJECTIFYING PROGRAMMES FROM TELEVISION BROADCASTS
As concerned citizens of South Africa, we are alarmed that national broadcasters and E-TV especially, should have so little concern for the negative impact that sexually explicit programming has on children and how women are viewed in society.

False Guidance
Anyone who has been involved in ministry for any length of time would have come across some bizarre examples of how some Christians seek “guidance.”
As I have been involved in missions for over 30 years, I regularly have been confronted with some very strange concepts of guidance.

Marathon Relay Race

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2
Hebrews 11 and 12 remind us that we have the great privilege of being part of God’s family. We are His sons and daughters. We are part of God’s team. And we are in a cosmic marathon relay race.

Racism, Xenophobia
and Hate Speech

Only Biblical Christianity offers a rational basis for opposing racism and for pursuing justice. Equality before the law is a Biblical principle:
“The community is to have the same rules for you and for the alien living among you; this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. You and the alien shall be the same before the Lord. The same laws and regulations will apply both to you and to the alien living among you.” Numbers 15:15-16
CHRISTIAN ACTION NETWORK SUPPORTS ANTI-INTERNET PORNOGRAPHY BILL
The Christian Action Network supports the drafting and proposal of an Anti-Internet Pornography Bill by the Justice Alliance of South Africa to the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs as a possible solution to (partly) combating the scourge of pornography in South Africa.
This proposed Bill comes as a result of calls from Deputy Minister of Home Affairs to ban pornography from the public sphere and to ensure the protection of children. Deputy Minister Gigaba has also requested the South African Law Reform Commission to look into this possibility of banning pornography on the internet, cell phones and on television.

There is a growing worldwide war against Christianity. Last year, over 160,000 Christians were killed for their faith. Christians have been beaten, imprisoned and killed for the crime of being a Christian in Red China. In Sudan, Christians have been bombed, massacred and sold into slavery. In Indonesia, Muslim mobs have wiped out entire villages of Christians, burning down many hundreds of churches.

As a result of the teachings and example of Jesus Christ, women in much of the world today, especially in the West, enjoy far more privileges and rights than at any other time in history. ... click here for more
