Livestreaming of Reformation 500 Conference
You can participate in the Reformation 500 Conference via livestreaming from 9:00am – 5:00pm on Monday, 30 October on our Youtube channel. The raw footage from the Livestreaming will also be available on this Youtube channel after the conference has concluded.
Reformation and Revival
On 31 October 1517, Dr. Martin Luther launched the Protestant Reformation with his bold stand at the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. This 500th Anniversary of the launch of the Back to the Bible Movement is no doubt the most significant historical spiritual milestone in our lifetime.
Key-Note Speaker: Rev Erlo Stegen – KwaSizabantu Mission
By God's grace, Rev. Erlo Stegen of KwaSizabantu Mission has accepted our invitation to be our key-note speaker at the Reformation 500 Conference at the Dutch Reformed Church in Franschhoek on Monday, 30 October, 9am to 5pm and at the Reformation 500 Celebration Service at the Huguenot Monument, Tuesday, 31 October, 12 noon. Back to the Bible
The theme of the Conference is Back to the Bible. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss strategies for Reformation Today that will form part of the Franschhoek Reformation 500 Declaration. Different discussion groups will include: Socio-Political, Education, News Media, Churches, Biblical Authority and Entertainment.
Report Back from the Reformation 500 Church Council - Wittenberg
Dr. Peter Hammond has just returned from a month long Reformation 500 Mission to Europe and will update us on the strategies and projects discussed at the Reformation 500 Church Council in Wittenberg, Germany where representatives came from as far afield as: Burma, Czech, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, England, Netherlands, South Africa and USA.
Guest Speaker: Rev. Joel Saint
Other guest speakers at the Reformation 500 Conference will include Rev Joel Saint, who pastors the Independence Reformed Bible Church (www.independencerbc.org). He is a graduate of Washington Bible College, hosts a worldview radio commentary and is the Director of the Mid-Atlantic Reformation Society (www.thinkandreform.org). Joel and his wife Audrey are parents of nine children and eight grandchildren.
Classic 1953 Martin Luther Film
The classic 1953 Martin Luther film will be screened at 5pm at the NGK church hall in Franschhoek.
Parallel Children’s Programme
A parallel children’s programme will be available, which will include the new animated Torch-Lighters film on Martin Luther.

New Books to be Launched to Celebrate the Reformation
The updated and expanded version of Dr. Peter Hammond’s book The Greatest Century of Reformation will be launched at the Reformation 500 Conference in Franschhoek, 30 October. Its 288 pages are packed with over 200 historic pictures and maps, 20 chapters and 16 appendices. The Greatest Century of Reformation contains 16 biographies on the most extraordinary Reformers of the 16th century and gives the broad sweep of memorable characters and momentous events that shaped that phenomenal Back to the Bible movement. The Livingstone Fellowship Reformation 500 Hymn Book will also be launched along with other Reformation audio-visual resources.
Reformation 500 Day Celebrations
On Reformation Day, Tuesday, 31 October, the Reformation 500 Celebrationservice at 12 noon will be held at the Huguenot Monument in Franschhoek. Dr. Peter Hammond will be giving a Guided Tour of the Huguenot Museum and Monument beforehand from 10:00 to 12:00. The Service will be followed by a picnic lunch at the Monument. Art and Essay Competition
