Christian Youth Eurochoir to Sing in Cape Town (27 October 2016)

A Christian Youth Eurochoir will be performing at free concerts in Cape Town this weekend and at a special Reformation Day Service and concert on Monday, 31 October in Franschhoek.

“Music has been abused by the devil to enslave many young people. We must reclaim music for Christ. We are delighted to welcome our friends from the Eurochoir to Cape Town to uplift hearts, minds and spirits with excellent music that glorifies God,” says Dr Peter Hammond, the Chairman of the Reformation Society.

Birthed from Zululand

In December 1966, Revival broke out in Zululand, amongst a small community of Zulus and German-speaking South Africans, who had been seeking the Lord to visit them in a special way, that they might be empowered by His Spirit to see lives transformed. The Lord did rend the Heavens and come down, and soon hundreds of people were coming to KwaSizabantu (“the place where people find help”) Mission to encounter the power of God. Witchdoctors were converted and murderers repented. People from all walks of life were transformed by the Gospel. Rev. Erlo Stegen was an itinerant Evangelist for 11 years before the Revival broke out. He was determined not to “play church.” He preached straight: “Repent and change your lives. If you don’t, you are on your way to hell.” As the Mission grew, they saw the need to take the Gospel back to Europe, which has become so spiritually dark. Soon KwaSizabantu Missions were birthed in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Romania. Choirs have always been an important part of ministry of KwaSizabantu Mission. In 1998, youth from the different KwaSizabantu Missions in Europe came together to form the Eurochoir to minister at special concerts in Europe.

International Inspiration

The Eurochor is unique in every way. With over 150 members drawn from Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Romania, this youth choir has thrilled audiences throughout the world with their multilingual, varied, colourful and captivating concerts. You can read more about them on their website: (“Chor” is choir in German).

Halloween vs. Reformation
As many people in our country will unthinkingly celebrate death, darkness and demons as part of Halloween, this 31 October, the Reformation Celebrations will focus on the light of the Reformation, the love of our Redeemer and the fire of Revival birthed from back to the Bible movement that transforms lives and nations to the Glory of God.

Reformation and Revival
It was on 31 October 1517, that Dr. Martin Luther launched the greatest century of Reformation with his bold stand at the Castle Church in Wittenberg! 31 October is celebrated as the birthday of Evangelical, Bible-believing churches worldwide.
