Judge Dismisses Top TV Porn Channel Appeal Case
Thank you for praying! Yesterday (10 December 2014), Judge Lee Bozalek dismissed TopTV/Star Sat's appeal with costs at the Western Cape High Court. Thank You to JASA, Doctors for Life and Cause for Justice for fighting this important case!

On Monday, 3/11/2014, in the Western Cape High Court, Mr Justice Bozalek, struck down the licence granted by ICASA in April 2013 to On Digital Media (formerly Top TV) which had permitted them to broadcast 3 pornographic TV channels. The Justice Alliance of South Africa (JASA) and its two co-applicants, Cause for Justice and Doctors for Life (DFL), were awarded their costs against both ICASA and ODM. The effect of the judgment is that broadcasting of the porn channels must cease immediately. TopTV/StarSat then appealed against the judgement.

Traffick Proofing Vulnerable Communities
Picture3
Brooklyn is an area notorious for prostitution and trafficking. Prostitutes line Koeberg Road at night. There are many immigrants living in the area. In 2012, the Vice Squad rescued two women kept in a Wendy House for sexual exploitation. They were lured to Cape Town under a false employment offer.

Taryn was recently invited to give the Traffick Proof presentation at an event organised by the Brooklyn-Ysterplaat Ratepayers Association and Neighbourhood Watch. We hope other communities will replicate this great idea for a community rally. The organisers of the Rally then arranged for Taryn to give the Traffick Proof presentation at Ysterplaat Primary School. The Traffick Proof PowerPoint is downloadable from slideshare.

Continue to Pray For and Speak Up for Religious Freedom
In October, news broke in national media that an atheist organisation has instituted legal proceedings in the Johannesburg High Court against six public schools (two in the Cape, and four in Gauteng), all of whom hold to a Christian ethos and Christian values. The organisation is effectively asking the Court to order that Christianity be removed and banned from the schools. The case, which is a watershed case for religious freedom in South Africa, will probability end up in the Constitutional Court.

Organisasie vir Godsdienste-Onderrig en Demokrasie (OGOD) is an atheist organisation working to eradicate Christianity from schools. In this particular case the schools that OGOD has targeted, are Laerskool Randhart (Alberton), Laerskool Baanbreker (Boksburg), Laerskool Garsfontein (Pretoria), Hoërskool Linden (Johannesburg), Hoërskool Oudtshoorn and Langenhoven Gimnasium (both in Oudtshoorn).

Watershed Religious Freedom Case to be Heard in 2015
Given the volume and complexity of the issues involved in the case, the schools have asked for an extension of the period within which they have to deliver their Answering Affidavits in response to OGOD’s allegations against them. After delivery of the schools’ Answering Affidavits, OGOD will have an opportunity to deliver its own Affidavit in reply to the schools’ Affidavits. The parties then have to deliver their written Heads of Argument, setting out the legal arguments that they intend to make before the Court. Only thereafter, will the case be ripe for hearing. In the circumstances, the case will only be heard in the Johannesburg High Court sometime in 2015. (We will publish details of the court date as soon as this is known). Please pray for the lawyers representing the schools. The Christian organisation, Freedom of Religion SA (FOR SA) will be assisting the schools with the case.

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the Government will be upon His shoulder.  And His Name shall be called, Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of His Government and peace there will be no end.”  Isaiah 9:2-7
