THROUGH FIRE and STORM

Dear Christian Action friends and supporters

Greetings in the precious Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Thank you very much for praying for the ministries of Christian Action.

Knysna Relief Mission
In June, Abrie, Joseph and Francis travelled up to Knysna to help with relief efforts after the devastating fires that destroyed over 500 homes in the area.

The Need for Repentance
On our regular radio programmes, through e-mailings, on social media, on the internet, through our SermonAudio uploads and at public meetings, we have regularly been calling the people of our city and country to Repentance. In Leviticus 26, Deuteronomy 28 and Jeremiah 18, the Lord lays out the blessings of obedience and the curses of disobedience. When our Lord was asked about a man-made disaster, He responded in Luke 13:2-3 “…Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Then the Lord referred to the disastrous fall of the tower in Siloam where 18 people died. “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish!” Luke 13:5. Our Lord Jesus used both natural and man-made disasters as an opportunity to call people to Repentance.

Community Consensus
An article Dr Peter Hammond wrote on the Droughts, Storms and Fires – Is God Speaking to Us? led to other radio ministry opportunities, including on Radio Cape Pulpit and CCFM. With a prime time lunch time, Saturday phone-in programme, all the callers and text messages received agreed that the drought, storms and fires being suffered by the Cape must be seen as merciful calls from a Holy God for us to Repent. Some callers stated: “Our government is Godless. They are teaching our children in schools to be perverts. When will they learn?”

Campus Ministry
Thank you very much for praying for our ministry to university students. Your prayers and support help us to reach future leaders of Africa. We have continued with our weekly outreaches at UCT. We have had many good Gospel discussions with atheists, agnostics, relativists, Muslims and even a Buddhist student from Japan.

Homeschoolers at the CastleHistoric Tours for Home Educators
Over 180 home educators and their children joined Dr Peter Hammond for two History tours of the Castle. The Castle of Good Hope is the oldest building still in use in the Southern Hemisphere. Constructed between 1666 and 1679, it is the finest example of a Dutch East India Company fortification of the 17th century anywhere in the world today. Each tour lasted over 2½ hours as he pointed out providential history lessons seen in so many features and artefacts of the Castle. A Historic Tour of Genadendal Mission (the oldest Mission Station in the Southern Hemisphere) is planned for 25 July.

Reformation 500 Church Council
I have been helping to invite key Christian leaders and theologians to the Reformation 500 Church Council to be held from 16-21 October 2017 in Wittenberg, Germany. This Preliminary Theological Consultation is scheduled just prior to the 500th Anniversary of Professor Martin Luther nailing his 95 Theses to the Castle Church Door in Wittenberg, Germany. These meetings will include Celebration Services and Guided Tours at historic Reformation sites. Since early Church History, the global Body of Christ has convened Church Councils with representatives from many nations to determine by the consensus wisdom of Church's leaders, which side of the controversial doctrinal positions was Biblical and true, and which side was false and worthy of condemnation by the Church's leadership. In this 21st century, 24 issues have risen to the surface as controversial issues, all of which arose from within Evangelical and Bible-believing sections of the greater Body of Christ worldwide. Over the past four decades, Dr. Jay Grimstead of Coalition on Revival has gathered together various groups of Theologians from a wide range of denominations to discuss each of these 24 issues as they emerged into church life. Those Theological teams have boiled down each issue into its salient points, then have expressed the Biblical position on each key point in clear, concise creedal statements of "Affirmations and Denials" as Theological documents to be presented to the Global Body of Christ for consideration.

CLB-Creation Day posterUpcoming Events
We have already received an overwhelming response to our planned Creation Days for Home Educators. Please pray for these two events: Exploring the Ark of Noah and the Flood, (Friday, 7 July) and Exploring the Creation Museum Workshops, (Friday, 14 July), which are particularly aimed for home educators, at Livingstone House, during the upcoming school holidays.

Peter has completed Reformation Conferences in Zambia and the USA and has further received invitations to conduct Reformation Conferences in Nigeria, Namibia, Holland, Belgium and Germany.

We have designed a new “Stop the Traffick!” banner for our Women’s Day outreaches in shopping Malls (9 August). Due to increasing resistance we have faced from a having an overtly Christian display at Malls, we have had to produce this new banner. Please pray for open doors to have a display and table at busy shopping malls in Cape Town on Women’s Day – 9 August.

Urgent Appeal to Pray for Funds
This week, our Mission Manager, Colin Newman, alerted us to a serious financial crisis that we are facing at the Mission. After utilising every reserve and funds from all our related ministries, such as Christian Liberty Books, Living Waters Africa and Africa Christian Action, we are still not able to meet even half of our financial commitments for the end of the month, which is this week.

So far this year, Dr Peter Hammond has completed four Missions and Frontline Fellowship Mission teams have conducted services and seminars as far afield as Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania and Sudan and we have even more scheduled. However, that would not be possible without a dramatic infusion of funds and increase of support.

By God’s grace, as a Faith Mission, Frontline Fellowship has never engaged in direct fund raising, nor taking up an offering at any of our meetings. In 35 years, Dr Hammond has never taken any royalties for any of the 50 books and Manuals he has authored. Everything is ploughed directly into the Mission. Our Christian Liberty Books ministry is a not-for-profit ministry and any funds generated is ploughed directly into the Mission.

At the end of July, Dr Hammond is scheduled to conduct a Reaching Muslims for Christ Seminar up in Johannesburg and the first week of August, he is scheduled to be the key-note speaker for a Biblical Worldview Conference in Nigeria. As things stand at this moment, we have no funds and no reserves to even pay the support of half of our staff, let alone, other essential expenses.

“Now may He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruit of your righteousness.” 1 Corinthians 9:10

Thank you very much for praying for the ministries of Christian Action. Your prayers and generous support is much needed and greatly appreciated. May God abundantly bless and reward you and “supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

Thank You
We are very grateful for your prayers and partnership with Christian Action in this fight for Life and Liberty.

Yours for Reformation and Revival
