Christians Protest 15 Years of Legalised Abortion

Over 100 Christians, including numerous pastors from different denominations, took part in the procession and gathered afterwards to pray outside the main gates of Parliament in Cape Town.

Cheryllyn Dudley, ACDP Member of Parliament and Member of the Health Portfolio Committee, told participants of the Prayer Rally:

“Human rights are valueless if we fail to value human life. Many of the arguments for abortion were used in defending slavery centuries ago. We must do everything possible to protect every child - those who are wanted and those who are said to be unwanted, those whose parents can afford them and those who can't.

“While well-meaning people, and those with their own agenda’s, speak up for what they call women’s rights, legalising abortion on demand denies helpless babies even the right to life.”

Steve Swart, ACDP Member of Parliament, told the participants, “We look forward to the day when there will be legislation upholding the Right to Life of the pre-born and a memorial stone inside Parliament in memory of all the babies who have lost their lives to abortion.”

Participants at the Prayer Rally prayed a Scriptural Imprecatory Prayer, calling on the nation and government leaders to repent of the national sin of abortion and warning of God's Judgement if they do not Repent.

Obituary notices were placed in the Cape Times and Argus newspapers in memory of all babies killed by abortion since 1997. The Cape Times and Argus finally agreed to accept our obituary notices under the Personal Column but still would not accept them under the Deaths Column. Sanctity Life Sunday

Throughout the country many church congregations and concerned individuals observed 29 January as Sanctity Life Sunday . They reflected on the sad reality of abortion and proclaimed the sanctity of human life.

A pro-life demonstration and prayer rally took place last weekend in Vosloorus and East London, and will be held in Durban, Bloemfontein and Polokwane this coming weekend. There will also be a Life Chain in Pretoria on 3 March. (See contact details below).
