Networking with Other Pro-Life Groups
We praise God for a successful series of Life Chains across South Africa and for the National Alliance for Life Conference in Durban. In Cape Town, we participated in the Western Cape Alliance for Life Conference on Saturday, 5 October. A variety of pro-life ministries and crisis pregnancy projects shared on what they are doing to save lifes and how we can get involved. Dr. Jacques De Vos gave an update on the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA) hearing over his standing for life in the medical field. Abrie Lourens gave a presentation on a Gospel-Centered Approach to Pro-Life Ministry and Taryn Lourens gave a presentation on The Fight for Life – An Overview of the Abortion Legislation, Post-Abortion Syndrome and the Biblical Command to Fight for Life. Trailers were shown of a variety of new pro-life films, including Gosnell; Unplanned; Babies are Still Murdered Here; Life Chain and March for Life.

Standing for Life
On Sunday, 6 October, we organised the Life Chain in Cape Town. 150 people participated on the traffic island on Buitengracht Street, between the Cape Town International Conference Centre and the Entrance to the Waterfront. Placards and banners declared: Life Begins at Conception; Abortion is Murder; Abortion Kills Babies, “Speak Up for Those Who Cannot Speak for Themselves” Proverbs 31:8; Adoption: Loving Option; Abortion: One Dead, Another Wounded; Take My Hand, Not My Life; Abortion: The Ultimate Child Abuse; Abortion: One Heart Stops, Another Heart Breaks; In God's Court, Abortion is Murder; Abortion Does Not Make You Un-pregnant. It Makes you the Mother of a Dead Baby; Abortion is our National Sin – God Will Not Bless a Nation That Kills its Children; Warning! Abortion Will Kill your Child and Cause you Emotional and Physical Harm; Stand for Life; A Person is a Person No Matter How Small and Choose Life so that You and Your Children Will Live.”

Popular Support
Participants in the Life Chain experienced tremendous support and many positive responses from passing motorists, many of whom hooted enthusiastically and gave us a thumbs-up to the protestors. There were very few negative responses.

Literature Distribution
Our 18 literature distributors distributed well over 4,000 pro-life and Evangelistic leaflets to passing motorists and pedestrians. Numerous discussions ensued with some pedestrians, including with three pro-choice women whom some of our members talked to for over an hour. Dr. Jacques De Vos gave an inspiring testimony and numerous missionaries, pastors and teachers led the group in prayer.

International Event
Since 1987, Life Chains have been held in the USA and since 1992, Africa Christian Action has organised Life Chains throughout South Africa. This was the 28^th Life Chain held in Cape Town. In Proverbs 1:20-22, we read: “Wisdom calls aloud outside; she raises her voice in the open squares. She cries out in the chief concourses, at the openings of the gates in the city she speaks her words…”

Educate, Encourage and Enlist
Life Chains are a practical, positive strategic initiative to inform, inspire and involve, to educate, encourage and enlist concerned citizens in making a stand for the Right to Life of the most helpless and innocent citizens of all, pre-born babies. The Life Chains incorporate placard protests at busy traffic intersections and mass literature distribution to passing motorists. 5,000 copies of Abortion – The Factsand Considering Abortion were printed especially for this outreach. The vast majority of them were distributed on Sunday afternoon. The new reprints include the websites of the www.Gosnellmovie.com and www.unplannedfilm.com, to encourage viewing of the trailers and hopefully the complete films on these true stories.

The Power of Prayer
It is our sincere prayer that God be glorified through our work and witness. In the weeks and months in preparation for these outreaches, we have been praying for the motorists and pedestrians who would pass by, that the Lord would so orchestrate the timing of vehicles, traffic lights and our literature distributors, that the right literature would be placed in the hands of those who have been prepared by Him.

The Power of the Printed Page
We praise God for the power of the printed page and for the power of the Word of God. God's Word does not return void. Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of God. The Gospel is the power of God for the Salvation of everyone who believes.

Strategic Potential
We praise God for the potential of these Life Chains, to reach hearts and homes, families and communities, which we would not otherwise be able to reach, both with the messages proclaimed on the placards and banners and also through the literature distributed.

Our Goals
It is our sincere prayer that mothers in crisis pregnancy situations would be encouraged that they are not forgotten and not alone and that they have other options. Adoption is the loving option. It is our prayer that more pastors and churches would be encouraged to speak up for the right to life of pre-born babies, to teach what the Bible teaches about when life begins and our Christian responsibility to love our neighbour, including our unseen, pre-born neighbours. It is our prayer that we would reach medical professional, doctors, nurses, pharmacists, to encourage them not to be intimidated into compromising their healing profession into the taking of innocent life.

Accessories to Murder
It is also our prayer that those who are accessories to murder, by supporting political parties that have campaigned for legalised abortion, would come to Repentance. That voters would not waste their votes on candidates and parties that are pro-abortion. That journalists will publish the truth about abortion. That the Lord would convict abortionists of the sin of murder and that they would turn to Him in Repentance and Faith.
